RIVER OAKS AREA

River Oaks is a residential neighborhood within the center of Houston and is recognizable as the most expensive neighborhood in town. It was established in the 1920s by William and Michael Hogg and has since become a national model for community planning. The plans for the community ensured that the parks and esplanades would be planted with oaks, shrubs, azaleas, and other floral decors to enhance the area.

It was stated that River Oaks would be a “distinguished experiment in fine living”. The neighborhood is serviced by a separate police force, the River Oaks Police Department as well as many high-end local boutiques and restaurants. Forbes, Fortune, and The Wall Street Journal have all featured River Oaks in their rankings of best places to live.
